Tala El-Achkar, MEd, RP, OPCC Dipl. Psych, CRPO and CAPT Member

Tala El-Achkar’s commitment to healing work stems from a multidisciplinary foundation. She earned a Bachelor of Sociology from the University of Guelph and a Master of Sociology and Equity Studies in Education from OISE, University of Toronto (currently known as an MEd in Social Justice Education). She joined the OPC College in 2012 while concurrently pursuing her Master’s degree, facilitating a unique exploration of trauma and healing through an equity perspective. Her culminating concentration, “Race & Racial Identity: Understanding the Impact in the PPMP,” was a synthesis of these interdisciplinary experiences.

Tala’s psychodynamic psychotherapeutic approach and private practice are deeply informed by an intersectional perspective that honors diverse ways of knowing. She emphasizes the importance of collective, intergenerational, and relational influences and utilizes breath and body work as tools for integrating memory and facilitating movement.

In 2019, Tala rejoined OPCC as a Teaching Assistant, and in 2020, she advanced to the role of lecturer and facilitator of Critical Diversity Workshops.
